Update - Ailsa's Eye Surgery
Ailsa's eye surgery went really well. It was minor thing that they did (for her blocked tear duct), but she still had to be put under (sniff sniff). We had to leave at 6:00 in the morning to get to the hospital in time (went to a hospital by where we used to live). They put some gas over her mouth and nose while I held her - not very enjoyable...she squirmed till she went limp. They test the tear duct by trying to squirt a bit of water down before they do anything. Apparently some water went down and some came back up. Assuming that there was still a partial blockage they went ahead with the probing. I picked her up in the recovery room a short time later. She was a bit groggy, but a whole tray of blueberries and some oranges solved that (she hadn't had any breakfast). Before you knew it we had to get her dressed so we could let her run around. She found some toys in another room and even got to try out a mini-tricycle - but her feet didn't reach the pedals... not that that stopped her. She also used the handle from another toy like a walking stick (like Paul). When they took the tape and tube out of her arm she watched fairly curiously....she just started fussing when the nurse firmly held her arm with some cotton balls to absorb any blood. There was tape and cotton on both ankles and her other arm - so I guess they had trouble getting a vein (not sure it that it typical or if she has my veins).

At least the mark came off easily when they brought her out. |

A bunch of blueberries and she was back to normal.... |

...and the day after the trip to hospital Ailsa was sharing more blueberries when visiting her friend Vero (giving the mums a chance to catch up) |
