France - August 2006

Ailsa had a great time in France - we were just outside Nevers (about 2 hours South of Paris). She and Aisling (another toddler) had a great time playing together. I think Ailsa helped encourage Aisling to start walking while we were there. It was great to see them play together, and they had plenty of space to explore outside. Ailsa got to help feed the chickens and the pigs at the Chateau (not sure if 'help' is really the right word...but we'll stick with it). We went to the market day just down the road and bought some lovely food - as well as got to see a lot of rabbits for sale - one rabbit was jumping from box to box (all filled with rabbits). How adorable.

I discovered that I play croquet better when I'm carrying Ailsa....and I'm much better at spotting stinging nettles now (didn't have to look for them when I was little and lived in Tennessee)....and I'm as competitive as ever when it comes to Parlour games - I guess I don't get out enough.

Unfortunately I was scheduled to take the Eurostar (train) to Paris in the middle of the problems with flights (from Heathrow, etc)...so it was packed when I got to the station in London. Thank goodness Paul dropped me off (so he was able to watch Ailsa while I squeezed my way across the packed pre-security area to retrieve my tickets.

A great chateau - Ailsa basically wanted to be outside all the time.
